A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, sentenced a 29-year-old welder, Emmanuel Yakubu to six months in prison for illegal possession of firearms.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos in his judgment, ordered the convict to pay an option of fine of N20, 000, or spend six months in prison.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thawur, told the court, that the case was reported on Dec. 9, 2024, by a team of police officers on routine patrol in Jos.
Thawur, said the convict was found with eight rounds of live ammunition without license, while on transit.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
