
The Police in Oyo, on Friday, arraigned the trio of Sodiq Bashiru, 24, Rasheed Samsudeen, 37, and Oke Akinkunmi before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N12 million from a trader.
The defendants of undisclosed addresses were arraigned on a two-count charge, bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecution Counsel, Olapeju Durodola, told the court that the ) defendants allegedly conspired among themselves to commit the act of stealing.
Durodola said the defendants between 2018 and January 2025, allegedly stole N12 million from a trader, one Musibau Raji.
She said the offence was committed at Labaowo Ogunpa Market, Ibadan.
She said the offence contravened sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Defence Counsel, K.H Salami, asked for the defendants bail in the most liberal term.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N3 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a building property owner each for each defendants, while the second sureties must be blood relation to each of the defendant.
She, thereafter, adjourned the matter to May 29, for hearing.
