A 42-year-old man, Mohammadu Usman, was on Tuesday, arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over an alleged N340,000 fraud.
Usman, whose address was not provided, is being charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in Dec. 2024, at Mokola area of Ibadan.
Olarotimi said that the defendant collected N340,000 from Mr Desmond Asemota, with the pretext of purchasing beans for him but converted the money to his personal use.
Olarotimi said the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 14, for hearing.
