500-level UNN student declared missing after receiving phone call to pick waybill

A 25-year-old male Pharmacy student of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), identified as Ugwu Mark Chukwuebuka, popularly known by his friends as Buka T. has been declared missing.

A report by SaharaReporters said that Chukwuebuka, a 500-level Pharmacy student, single from Ibagwa Nsukka in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State went missing on Tuesday, July 23, evening around 5pm.

A source close to Chukwuebuka’s family, Chidera Ugwuegbu, said that he went missing after he answered a call from an unknown mobile phone number to go to the Peace Mass Transit park to pick a waybill.

Meanwhile, since he left school on Tuesday after informing his friends that he was going to pick the said waybill, he has not returned home nor to school and nothing has been heard from him or anyone else.

Chidera said that Chukwuebuka’s family filed a report at the UNN security and at the police station on Thursday July 25, but “the police have only given assurance that they are working on it and that he will be found very soon.”

Asked if Chukwuebuka had any issue with anyone before his disappearance, Chidera said, “I have no idea of him having any issue with anyone. He is a very peaceful person and never troublesome.”

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said he needed to find out about the incident and revert back.

“I will need to verify the information please,” the police spokesperson told SaharaReporters in a text message.

Also, efforts to get the reaction of the university management failed as the Public Relations unit of the university as the Public Relations unit promised to get clear information on the incident and respond to SaharaReporters’ inquiry but has not done that till the time of filing this report.
