The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) will from today Tuesday August 6, 2024, begin to strengthen the capacity of faith and traditional leaders in Makurdi, Benue state. This will be carried out simultaneously with the activities of the Side-By-Side Movement for Gender Justice Scale Up Project.

A press statement by the project focal person on the Side-by-Side Movement for Gender Justice at the Centre, Mr. Nyong Essien noted that, the Movement is a global movement which brings Faith/Traditional Leaders and people of faith together as advocates of gender justice.

He said the movement, which has been in existence since 2018 supported by Christian aid recently got support from Ford Foundation to deepen its engagement in the two states of Benue and Kano.

Centre LSD is therefore organizing the capacity strengthening sessions to enhance the knowledge of the leaders as advocates of gender justice and also to create awareness on the project for its effective implementation.

He noted that the capacity strengthening exercise is designed to culminate into the establishment of the side-by-side Movement for gender justice and a press conference on the prevalent forms of gender-based violence in Benue State.
