Another Jeju air plane experiences landing gear problem

A Jeju Air plane was forced to return to Seoul’s Gimpo Airport on Monday after experiencing landing gear difficulties.

This happened 24 hours after another Jeju Air plane crashed in South Korea, killing at least 179 people.

Two persons survived.

The plane, a 15-year-old Boeing 737-800, had taken off from Gimpo Airport bound for Jeju International Airport but returned 40 minutes later as a precautionary measure.

The incident occurred after Sunday’s deadly crash, which involved the same type of aircraft.

In that incident, the plane’s front landing gear failed to deploy, causing it to skid off the runway and crash into a concrete fence.

Jeju Air officials said they would provide a full refund to passengers who voluntarily got off the plane and compensation for the delay to those who boarded the replacement flight.

About 21 passengers reportedly gave up boarding the plane due to safety concerns, while the remaining passengers were transferred to a replacement flight that departed for Jeju at 8:30 am.
