APC summons Ndume, considers reinstating him as Senate Whip

The All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, summoned Senator Ali Ndume on Tuesday to address his recent remarks against President Bola Tinubu, which resulted in his removal as Senate Whip. Following the meeting, Dr. Ganduje expressed the party’s satisfaction with Ndume’s apology and indicated plans to communicate this to the Senate leadership, aiming for a possible reinstatement.

Ndume’s removal stemmed from a complaint by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) to the Senate, led by Godswill Akpabio, over his comments about President Tinubu.

Addressing the media post-meeting at the APC national secretariat, Ganduje remarked, “We are quite satisfied with his apology. The party is like a family, and we believe in resolving internal issues. We will inform the National Assembly about the developments and hope they will reconsider their stance.”

Ndume admitted his mistake in not discussing his concerns with the party leadership before making public statements. “I should have raised my issues within the party. I accepted my mistake and assured the party that in the future, my observations will be directed internally. My actions were out of patriotism, and though they were strong, they were true. Moving forward, I will treat the party as the final point of contact.”

He further emphasized his commitment to the APC, stating, “I have not been expelled from the party. The party is like a family to me. The President and the Senate are not involved in this matter. My comments were not an insult to the President or the party, but I should have reached out to the party first.”
