BPP and ICPC LEADERSHPS SIGN AN MoU for enhancing integrity in procurement processes

In a landmark move to fortify Nigeria’s public procurement processes against corruption, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set the stage for a transformative partnership that is rooted in integrity, transparency, and national prosperity.

Director General of BPP, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, MCIPS, ACFE, is acting in synergy with ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, to consummate the innovative approach, which continues to redefine procurement governance in Nigeria.

Dr. Adedokun, renowned for his strategic thinking and commitment to excellence, has championed reforms that did not only streamline procurement processes but also reinforce accountability and efficiency in the use of public resources.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Dr. Adedokun emphasised the critical role of BPP in institutionalising procurement best practices that deter fraud and irregularities.

He said that this partnership with ICPC represented more than just an agreement.

According to him: “it is a bold step towards an ethical procurement landscape that aligns with global standards and fosters investor confidence in Nigeria’s economic system.”

ICPC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu lauded the collaboration, describing it as a proactive framework for intelligence sharing, joint investigations, and the prevention of corruption in public procurement.

According to him, “the MoU serves as a decisive mechanism to strengthen integrity in the sector and eradicate practices that undermine public trust and national development.”

Dr. Adedokun highlighted that this alliance was not about targeting individuals or political opposition but about upholding the greater good of Nigeria.

He reiterated that the synergy between BPP and ICPC aligned seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, driving essential policy reforms that will enhance procurement transparency and reinforce Nigeria’s economic resilience.

Dr. Adedokun stressed that the implementation of the MoU was not merely an administrative milestone but a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to fostering a procurement system that meets international best practices.

He pointed out that an accountable and corruption-free procurement environment will serve as a catalyst for national development, attracting both local and international investors who seek assurance in the safety and proper utilisation of their investments.
