The national electricity grid has collapsed for the second time in 24 hours, leading to a nationwide blackout.
Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) announced the grid collapse in separate statements on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
The companies disclosed that the grid collapsed about 9:17 a.m. on Tuesday.
The national grid collapsed at about 6 p.m. on Monday, October 14.
“Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 at 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network,” Ikeja Electric stated.
The DisCo added that it was collaborating with its critical stakeholders to restore power supply.
On its part, Eko DisCo said: “Kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network.
“We are currently [sic] working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as power supply is restored.”
