Call For Entries: 2024 Center LSD Leadership Championship Award

The world is void of leaders with adequate leadership capacities. Particularly in these times, when the world is characterized, by so much volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, with obvious leadership gaps in almost all spheres.

Unfortunately, these gaps appear to be widening, especially in developing countries like Nigeria.

According to Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives in the 10th assembly, Nigeria desperately needs leaders with the capacity and character to manage the change that is currently being experienced across every facet of life.

In the same vein, John C. Maxwell opined that the world needs leaders who will use their influence at the right times for the right reasons; who lead themselves successfully before attempting to lead others; who add value to the people and the organization they lead; who know the way, go the way, and show the way; who realize that their dispositions are more important than their positions; who follow a moral compass that points in the right direction regardless of the trends; etc.

Fortunately, the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development in the last 13 years has consistently made efforts towards bridging the leadership gaps through the Centre LSD Leadership School.

The school has been at the forefront of training Nigerians to become strategic leaders who will envision the future and help map out strategies to get there.

The school focuses on both leader development (expanding the capacity of individuals for effective leadership roles and processes) and leadership development (expansion of organizations’ capacity to enact basic leadership tasks, including setting direction, creating alignment, and maintaining commitment).

This Leadership Champion Award, therefore, is designed to recognize past and present graduands of Centre LSD Leadership School who have utilized the knowledge, skills, and network gained from the school to advance their careers, proffer solutions to tough challenges, and help in the development of other leaders.

For this year’s championship award, past students at the school, including the two sets graduating in August and September 2023, are strongly encouraged to nominate and or apply for the award in these two categories:
1. Career Advancement: Applicants should show how the leadership school helped them to advance in their career with concrete evidence.
2. Development of other leaders: Applicants should show how they have used the training from the leadership school to train other leaders. They should indicate the number of persons trained and the curriculum used for those training.

All applications and nominations should be sent to leadershipschool@centrelsd.org, info@centrelsd.org on or before 5.00PM, August 5th, 2023.
