The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) is co-hosting a town hall meeting with the Anambra State Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the International Peace and Civic Responsibility Centre (IPCRC) on the implementation of the Host Communities’ provisions in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in Anambra State.
The two day convening, held from August 22 to 23, 2024, at the Anambra state capital, Awka, is put together to foster stakeholders understanding of their roles and to also address concerns relating to the implementation of the host community provisions amongst mineral bearing communities in the state.
A statement released by Vincent Dania, Programme Coordinator at Centre LSD, noted that the Town Hall Meeting, which will feature officials from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI), will provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, seek clarification, and strengthen relationships moving forward.
