The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under its project “Deepening Transparency and Accountability in the governance process through the implementation of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria II,” on Wednesday 21st August 2024, began the review of Plateau State first Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan (SAP1) with the view to develop a new one for the state.
A statement signed by the Programme Coordinator of the Centre, Mr. Lawal Amodu in Jos, Plateau State, said stakeholders from government and the civil society are determined to follow through the state’s commitment to the principles of OGP as shown by the resolved to review the first State Action Plan (SAP), identify the gaps and carry forward relevant commitment areas into the process of the development of a new one.
He recalled that Centre LSD had supported the State to develop its first SAP which was implemented with some degree of success under the immediate past administration in the state.
The 3-day SAP review session will refreshen participants knowledge on the OGP and equip them with the capacity to implement the action plan they bequeath the state. Plateau State signed up to OGP principles in 2020 to implement open governance and enthrone transparency and accountability in its processes. The state had committed to focus on fiscal transparency, gender equity, extractive transparency, public participation, peace and security in its initial SAP1.
