Centre LSD to host citizens to a Decolonization and Anti-Racism Conference on Thursday

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) shall host citizens to a one-day decolonization and anti-racism conference in Nigeria, on Thursday November 7, 2024.

The conference which will hold in Abuja, the nation’s capital, will bring together thought leaders, practitioners, and stakeholders across multiple sectors to engage in deep and transformative conversations on decolonizing knowledge systems within social work and beyond.

A statement signed by the by the Director of MEL at the Centre LSD, Victoria Udoh, said the conference to be shaped by the research findings on decolonization, will explore the impact of colonial histories on socio-economic theories, and highlight the importance of fostering inclusive leadership.

The conference, the release emphasized, will offer Participants the opportunity to collectively examine how to move beyond data-driven approaches to creating emancipatory practices that truly serve diverse leaders, mentors, workers, and communities.

Supported by Christian Aid (UK) Nigeria, the conference shall present participants opportunity for  collaboration with prominent scholars, policymakers, advocates, and community leaders, contributing to the conversations and development of decolonized knowledge frameworks that support Africa’s future.

Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Founding Executive Director, Centre LSD will deliver the keynote address.

Expected at the event are members of civil society, academia, government, media, and local communities.
