The Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML), Commonwealth, Kentucky, USA, has bestowed its ‘Best Public Servant Leader Award of Excellence in Nigeria’ on the Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom.
The honor was bestowed at a Management and Leadership Programme of the Institute in Abuja on Thursday.
At the ceremony, Engr. Nkom, under whose watch the Mining Cadastre Office generated unprecedented revenue to the coffers of the government, was also inducted as a Fellow and Member, Board of Regents.
The event, whose theme was ‘Leadership, Strategic Management, and Policy Solutions: Advancing Environmental Sustainability in Nigeria,’ was held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, on 29th August, 2024.
According to the Institute, the Director General is valued for his various reforms in the Mining Cadastre Office, particularly the automation of the cadastre system to online and real time Mineral Title Administration.
The Institute commended the Engr. Nkom-led management of the Mining Cadastre Office for operating in line with global best practices, adding that the Agency has done much to advance the realisation of the government’s set goals for the Solid Minerals sector.
The Institute said its operations, the MCO, made Nigeria proud by making significant contributions to Nigeria’s robust mining sector, thereby positively impacting the economy.
It commended Engr. Nkom’s passion for human capital development and skill acquisition, adding that the virtue was part of considerations that qualified him for the leadership award.
