An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Monday, remanded a 30-year old man, Timothy Adebayo, in a correctional facility for allegedly stealing electrical wires worth N12 million.
Adebayo, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, damage and conspiracy, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others now at large, committed the offences at about 2.30a.m on Jan. 17, at Alafia Morica St., Adeleye Itele, Ota.
Adaraloye said that the defendant broke into an uncompleted building belonging to the complainant, Mrs Akinyemi Kemosola, and stole the items.
He added that the defendant damaged electrical wires and conduit pipes in the process of stealing the items.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Section 390(9), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in Ibara Correctional Centre in order to stop him from absconding.
She adjourned the case until May 12, for judgment.
