Delta assembly passes film, videos censors board bill

Delta House of Assembly on Wednesday passed Electricity Power Sector Bill, 2024.

The Executive bill was passed after it’s third reading at the plenary in Asaba presided over by the Speaker, Mr Dennis Guwor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill, which was supposed to be considered at the Committee of the Whole of the Assembly, was given accelerated hearing.

The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Mr Emeka Nwaobi moved a motion for the suspension of Order 12 Rules 79-83 of the Standing Rule of the Assembly to enable it take the third reading and passage of the bill.

The motion, which was unanimously adopted by the assembly when put to a voice vote by the speaker, was seconded by Mr Frank Esenwah (PDP-Oshimili North).

The Speaker, Mr Dennis Guwo, responding after the passage of the bill, noted that when signed into law would help to boost electricity supply and economic activities in the state.

”The passage of this bill represents a significant step in improving electricity supply in the state.

”I believe the passage of this bill will promote living standard and enhance the overall well-being of the people of the state, ” he said.

Guwor commanded the lawmakers for their commitment and contributions towards the passage of the bill.

According to him, distinguished colleagues, I sincerely appreciate all of your support and contributions throughout the legislative process of this bill.

”I am grateful for your immense contributions for improving the electricity sector of the state, ” he added.
