Dr. Abdullahi: The impeccable modern day achiever

The words of Shakespeare, “some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them”.

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria , Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, PhD is an inspiring young man of a great and renown repute.

He is a great man, an achiever par excellence, humble in character, very unassuming and received both the rich, mighty and the poor to his abode. Dr Abdullahi, in rare human attribute combined these three attributes, as the son of a great noble man, an achiever in his own right and always called upon by governments at the state and federal levels to serve, even when it was physically traumatic for him to do so.

The qualities that defined Dr Abdullahi captured and encapsulated in the motto of his degree. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the present Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), formerly Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, Kano. Proceeded to obtain an M.Sc from the University of Salford, UK

There are persons who set the bar and Dr Abdullahi knew that in following the steps of some of these achievers he must work hard to make his own mark.

It would be repetitive to delve extensively into the various offices in the public service and private sector held by Dr Abdullahi. He towered above his peers. One of the youngest highly profiles office holder ever in the history Nigeria.

In Spite of these several hectic and time consuming responsibilities, he created time to make his mark in so many endeavors . interface with his collection and do research work.

DR Abdullahi is a socialite. He was the cynosure of all eyes at many fields of endeavors eg artistic events, public and social functions and you made your mark therein.

You are a mentor to many people and you also serves as an inspiration, because you always raised the bar set by those before you .

He believed that inherent in every human person is goodness and talent and abhorred tribalism or religious bigotry. He actively participated in religious ceremonies in churches or mosques. A traditionalist who also supported the cause of the black race and could properly be described as “a good man par excellence.”

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, PhD (born January, 1985 in Kano, but hails from Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State), is an illustrious Son of Ebiraland. The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria

He was appointed to the position of DG/CEO by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on October 24, 2023. Prior to his appointment as the Fourth DG of the ECN, he served as a Research Associate and Teaching Assistant in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester, UK and was a Staff member of the former Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), now Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Abdullahi had also worked at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) with a cumulative experience in Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Sustainability, Space Technology, and Research, having worked at NUPRC and NASRDA for over 14 years.

Mustapha Abdullahi also served as the Senior Technical Adviser (STA) to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Hon. Uche Geoffrey Nnaji.

He gained a Postdoctoral fellowship as a Research Associate in the School of Engineering at the University of Manchester, UK after securing funding award from the Industry Collaboration Fund (ICE).

He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of Manchester, UK with a focus on oil and gas structural health monitoring.
