Lagos to London, an Educational Company based in Lagos has launched the highly anticipated Facilitators’ Training on the Lagos to London (L2L) Global Learning Curriculum with focus on skill for development of personal life. In collaboration with the government of the State, the organization also trained teachers delivering services in Comprehensive Schools in the State.
The Lagos to London team trained the teachers on all 11 modules of the curriculum, which include: Self Discovery and Personal Mission Statement; Developing Resilience and Overcoming Setbacks; Building Impactful Relationships and Community Life; Dealing with Peer Pressure and Navigation Career Choices among others.
Speaking at the launch which was held at the Multilingual Hall, Maryland, Lagos, Mrs. Lola Aworanti-Ekugo who developed the L2L Global Learning Curriculum, explained that the curriculum is based on lessons from a novel she authored. The novel, Lagos To London focuses on personal life skills and development which aims at empowering learners with the mindset and skills necessary to achieve success as self-starters.
According to the author, the novel is a must-read for people from all walks of life who want to achieve uncommon success in organization and personal leadership as it is designed to equip readers with knowledge needed to lead and engage others.
The author further explained that the novel is also equipped with knowledge for building a successful life and becoming an important member of the community. She noted that this aspect of education is considered an essential component of the 21st-century.
Lola Aworanti-Ekugo narrated how, while growing up, she found it difficult to find her unique path and pursue her unique mission. As a result of this, she was inspired to author Lagos To London and design the curriculum around the lessons in the novel in collaboration with Learnible, a global learning and education innovation agency founded by Mr. Demilade Oluwasina. She said the overall aim was to provide students with personal life skills required for success.
Commissioner of Education, Lagos State, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo who was represented by the Director of Comprehensive Schools, Mrs. Lucy Emike Omoaka, lauded the initiative and its expected impact on positively changing the life of students.
She said Lagos State will ensure that schools in the State would be made to focus on implementing the L2L Global Learning Programme, noting that she will visit all schools to ensure its effective delivery.
Mrs. Omoaka expressed gratitude to the Lagos to London team for developing a comprehensive and insightful curriculum, and for giving the Lagos State Ministry of education the chance to incorporate the programme in schools. She commended the team for training teachers on how to effectively teach the curriculum in comprehensive schools across Lagos.
The event came to close with a book-signing session of the novel, Lagos to London by the Author.
