First lady inaugurates special projects in Kwara

The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated several projects in Kwara, as part of her official visit to the state between Tuesday and Thursday.

These projects include the official inauguration of Babatunde Idiagbon Flyover Bridge on Tanke Road and the Unity Flyover Bridge, named after the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Zulu Gambari in Ilorin.

Tinubu commended Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara for initiating different projects for the development of the state, which could draw international investors to the country.

The senator, while inaugurating the flyover on Wednesday, commended the state government for its dedication to infrastructural development.

She said such innovative projects played a pivotal role in boosting economic activities, improving transportation efficiency, and reducing urban congestion.

Tinubu, however, encouraged residents to take ownership of public infrastructure, ensure proper maintenance, and protect these developments for future generations.

Other projects inaugurated by the first lady were the Sugar Factor Film studio, which aimed at assisting film makers and other artists carry out their productions effortlessly.

Another project was the Ilorin Innovation Hub, a facility that promotes technological advancement and entrepreneurship.

The hub also offers programmes and services to support startups, tech enthusiasts, and innovators. transportation efficiency, and reducing urban congestion.

The ultra modern ICT Centre, built by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), was also inaugurated.

The ICT centre, built in collaboration with Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), was located at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.

An ultramodern Intensive Care Unit at the Kwara State Teaching Hospital was also inaugurated.

AbdulRazaq acknowledged the first lady’s presence as a reflection of her commitment to supporting projects that foster economic growth, community development, and national progress.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to delivering more impactful projects that improve the quality of life for residents.

According to him, the flyovers are expected to contribute significantly to urban development, ease of doing business, and overall economic growth in the state.

AbdulRazaq also said that the flyover and bridge were designed to ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and support economic development in Ilorin and its environment.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor had approved the naming of some old and new legacy projects in the state after historic figures and leaders.

The road leading to the flyover was named the Tafawa Balewa Road, in honour of Nigeria’s former Prime Minister, who was killed in the January 1966 military coup.

Also, the Civil Service Clinic project was named after the First Lady: the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hospital.

The governor also named the ICT Centre after former health Minister, Dr Amina Ndalolo, from Kwara North,

The executive ward at the state Teaching Hospital was named after the late prominent physician and politician, Dr Amuda Aluko.

Tinubu was accompanied by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, the state Governor’s Wife, Dr Olufolake Abdulrazaq, and Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo and his wife, Barr. Chioma Uzodinma

Others are state and Federal Government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, parliamentary cabinet members; other state governor’s wives and elder statesmen and women, including Mrs Bola Shagaya.
