A statement from the Centre on Thursday, said the meeting is in furtherance of the organization’s programming on Election Affairs in Nigeria, stating that “elections are veritable mechanisms by which leaders are pivoted into office in liberal democratic systems.”
The Centre noted that for any election outcome to be credible and a true reflection of the will, yearnings and aspirations of the voting electorate, it must meet certain acceptable thresholds.
Discussing the essence of the upcoming policy dialogue, the statement said: “The policy dialogue to be convened will examine and discuss within the Nigerian context, the indicators, drivers, inhibitors and other factors that should be considered in arriving at, and defining the acceptable threshold of credibility for elections in Nigeria, it will also proffer policy actions to attain it.”
The organization said all eligible voters are stakeholders, and therefore encourages members of the public to participate.
