In a provocative move, Israeli authorities have demolished a Palestinian residence and agricultural structures in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Anata. The destroyed house, belonging to Mohammad Ahmed Hilweh, spanned 140 square meters. Moreover, Israeli forces razed a park owned by the Al-Fahidat family and demolished sheds used for livestock and beehives.
This incident follows a similar demolition in the same neighborhood last month, which left 25 families homeless. According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli authorities carried out 30 demolition and bulldozing operations in May, including nine forced self-demolitions.
The ongoing demolitions have exacerbated tensions in the Occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces have killed over 512 Palestinians and injured nearly 5,000 since October. The international community has consistently rejected Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem, and Palestinians continue to assert their right to the city as the capital of their future state.
