Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have killed 13 vigilance group’s members during an attack on Morai village in the Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
One Alhaji Augie disclosed that the vigilantes were killed while launching an ambush in an attempt to recover cattle and repel the terrorists on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
“Unfortunately, they were unaware that the terrorists had already surrounded them.
“As soon as the vigilantes moved to intercept, the attackers opened fire, killing at least 13 of them on the spot.
“The village where the attack occurred was just about three kilometres from ours,” Augie told Channels TV.
It was further gathered that six bodies have so far been recovered and given Islamic funeral rites, while the search for the remaining corpses is still ongoing.
The Kebbi State Police Command has, however, yet to speak on the incident.
