The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office has been rated the ‘Best Digital Innovation of the Federal Government in Year 2022’ by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA).
NIRA, a non-governmental body established by the order of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria to manage Nigeria’s country code, presented the award to the best portal of the Federal Government with excellent user-experience which promotes innovation and local content development with the .ng domain name.
The NMCO which was nominated by the public and assessed by the Award Jury as fulfilling the criteria for the category, beat other nominees among which are the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) to emerge winner with the highest number of votes in favour of the Agency.
Head of Media and Publicity at the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, Sade Fatoke, who confirmed the development to our correspondent on Sunday, quoted the Director General, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom who received the award for his Agency as saying that ‘the NIRA award is a call on the Mining Cadastre Office to sustain the lead by ensuing sustained commitment to the values by which the NMCO won it.’
Engr Nkom further said: ‘The reward for hard work is always more work, I will say this award is a call for more dedication and commitment for MCO to continue until government’s desire for the Agency and the sector is fulfilled,’ he said.
He assured that the ‘Mining Cadastre Office will remain committed to professionalism,’ adding that through sustained commitment to best practices, the Agency can become the gateway to economic diversification as well as boost revenue of government.
