Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa on Tuesday, inaugurated the Builders Disciplinary Tribunal at the Headquarters of the Ministry, in Abuja.
In his inaugural speech, the Minister noted that the inauguration of the Tribunal is an important step towards strengthening accountability within the Building profession in Nigeria.
He said: ‘I have always believed that establishing structures, systems and procedures that enforce adherence to professional standards and ethics is crucial.’
He urged members of the Tribunal to uphold the trust and credibility of the Building profession by ensuring that disciplinary cases are handled with integrity, fairness and transparency.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Tribunal, Bldr. Dr. Samson Ameh Opaluwah on behalf of the Tribunal members, appreciated the Minister for inaugurating the Tribunal, which serves as further proof of the commitment of the Federal Government of Nigeria towards entrenching professionalisation and regulation in the Building industry.
He furthered assured the Minister of the Tribunal’s readiness to hold Registered Builders to account in ensuring strict compliance to the standard requirements.
He also pledged the continuous willingness of CORBON to work with the Ministry towards achieving the desire to entrench safety and sustainability in the built environment.
