MTN Ghana has announced that it will discontinue the use of scratch cards by June 30, 2024, as part of its efforts to lead in digital solutions and adopt eco-friendly practices. The telecom giant has informed customers and partners that any unused scratch cards will no longer be valid after July 1, 2024. Instead, these can be redeemed at any MTN Customer Experience Centre using the Credit transfer (EVD) method.
This move aligns with the Ghanaian government’s push for digitalisation and reflects MTN’s commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. Although MTN Ghana has not introduced new scratch cards since 2020, the company is encouraging customers to transition to digital channels for recharging their accounts. Recommended options include Mobile Money (MoMo), Ayoba, and the myMTN app.
To incentivise this transition, MTN Ghana is offering a 50 percent bonus on all Mobile Money recharges. This promotion aims to make the shift to digital recharges more appealing and beneficial for customers.
MTN Ghana’s decision marks a significant step towards reducing environmental waste and promoting digital transactions, positioning the company at the forefront of technological advancement in Ghana and the broader region.
