The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, joining President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation in mourning the loss of a respected military leader.
In a condolence statement issued on Wednesday by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Forum extended its sympathies to the family of the late General, the Nigerian Army, and the President.
Governor Abdulrazaq praised Lagbaja’s dedicated service to the country, honoring his commitment to unity and security.
“We send our profound condolences to Mr. President, the Nigerian military establishment, and the family on the sad loss of this great patriot,” the statement read. “Our hearts are especially with the family and the Nigerian Army at this difficult moment.”
Highlighting Lagbaja’s contributions, the statement added, “We are comforted by the unforgettable memories of his unblemished service to our country. Even in death, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja stands honored for his bravery and dedication to a greater, united Nigeria.”
The NGF’s message concluded with prayers for the late General, asking Almighty God to grant him peace in al-Jannah Firdaus and to provide strength for his family as they navigate this challenging time.
