Following the clashes between rival groups of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Akure on Tuesday morning, the activities of the union have been suspended indefinitely across Ondo State.
Disclosing this to newsmen, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategy, Doyin Odebowale, said the government had ordered NURTW members to immediately vacate all motor parks in the state.
Odebowale explained that the move became imperative following what the government observed as unruly and uncultured behaviour of the union leaders.
It could be recalled that on Tuesday morning, there was pandemonium within Akure metropolis during the violent attack on some members of the union by a rival group which resulted in the killing of one person with many injured.
