NYSC educates corps members on dangers of sexual harassment

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Katsina State has educated corps members on the dangers of sexual harassment.

The exercise, which took place in Katsina on Saturday, was part of the ongoing 2024 Batch C Stream one three-week orientation course being held nationwide.

Hajiya Saude Ayuba, Katsina NYSC Guardians and Counseling desk officer, emphasised that sexual harassment was a criminal offense in the state.

She warned corps members that the NYSC would protect them against sexual harassment but emphasised that any corps member found guilty of such an offense would face consequences.

“Any corps member found guilty of sexual harassment will be handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution,” she warned.

Mr Allen Chisom, Camp Director, advised corps members to familiarise themselves with the NYSC Act and By-Laws, particularly sections related to sexual harassment.

The Truth reports that the sensitisation lecture is part of NYSC’s efforts to create a safe and respectful environment for all corps members.
