Victims Of Kaduna Bandit Attack Given Mass Burial

Gunmen reportedly abducted at least four people in recent attacks in Anambra state.

One other person was reportedly killed in one of these events that took place across different areas of the state, with no apparent security forces on the scene.

It was reported that in Ifite Awka, close to the entrance of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), two individuals were kidnapped at gunpoint.

Additionally, the gunmen abducted one other person in the evening along Peter Obi’s Agulu-Oraukwu Road.

It was also discovered that the attackers took a victim at night in Oye Market, Nimo, Njikoka local government area.

In Enuavomimi village, Enugwu-Ukwu, also located in Njikoka, a man named Clement Eduzor was killed by the attackers.

Reports suggest that the attackers randomly shot before taking their victims.

Residents have expressed their dissatisfaction with the police, claiming they only showed up after the crimes had been committed.

The spokesperson for the Njikoka State Police Public Relations, Ikenga Tochukwu, acknowledged one of the kidnappings but did not provide details on the others.

In response, Ikenga stated in a statement on Sunday, July 14, in Awka, that the authorities were addressing the situation at Ifite-Awka.

He said: “The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, Nnaghe Obono Itam states that efforts are ongoing to arrest the assailants and rescue the victims of the abduction incident on 13/7/2024 captured in a video along Ifite – Amansea road, Awka.

“Meanwhile, the Police responding team recovered the abandoned victim’s vehicle, and joint security measures/personnel positioning are already in place to forestall such related incidents in the state.”
