
The Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) and the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria are in a session of brainstorm, identifying opportunities for strategic collaboration between the two establishments.

The collaboration will harness NGSA’s wealth of human resources, technical expertise in mineral exploration, and CERT’s cutting-edge technology to deepen the development of geoscience information on minerals in Nigeria.

At a strategic meeting between the NGSA Management and a delegation of CERT, in Abuja, on Thursday, the Director-General of the NGSA, Prof. Olusegun Omoniyi Ige said an MoU is being put in place to formalize the collaboration, stating that the Agency and Centre are identifying key areas on which the partnership will dwell.

Director, CERT, Prof. S. A. Jonah commended the NGSA for its efforts in mineral exploration and geoscience data generation, spanning 100 years.

He assured that the Centre will deploy its 15 Research Professors and equipments, including a Nuclear Reactor that has been deployed to render scientific services to African countries for over 24 years, to support the ongoing efforts of the NGSA to deepen the realisation of its mandate of geoscience data generation.
