A small plane crashed into a commercial building near Fullerton Municipal Airport on Thursday, killing at least two people and injuring 18 others. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The accident occurred early in the afternoon, about 25 miles (40 kilometres) southeast of Los Angeles. The plane, a single-engine Van’s RV-10 with four seats, crashed into the building, causing a large hole in its roof with smoke pouring out.

“There are two confirmed fatalities,” said Fullerton police in a post on X

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

The video of the mishap was shared on social media platform X.

Of the 18 people injured, 10 were hospitalised, while eight others were treated at the scene. It remains unclear whether the fatalities were passengers on the plane or workers at the building where it crashed, a police officer told local station KTLA.

Witness Jerome Cruz, a worker at the building, recounted the terrifying moment. “All we hear is like a loud noise, boom, and that’s it. Then we started running out,” he said.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, although no further details have been released.

This crash follows another incident near Fullerton Municipal Airport in November, in which two people were injured.
