Police, in Anambra, arrest gunrunner, recover 375 live cartridges

The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 48-year-old man, Felix Owaya, for alleged possession of 375 live cartridges.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, June 17, 2024.

Ikenga stated that the suspect hails from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

He disclosed that the police operatives attached to Fegge Division made the arrest while on patrol on Niger Street in the Onitsha area of Anambra State on Saturday, June 15.

The police spokesperson added that Owaya, during interrogation, confessed that he was sent by one Charles Ogboma to a yet-to-be-identified man to collect the ammunition.

Ikenga noted that an investigation into the matter was ongoing.

He quoted the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, as having commended the operatives for their vigilance and tenacity of purpose.

Itam also directed all the personnel in the command to sustain the pace of crime prevention and detection in service of the people and Anambra State.
