The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior police officers, including 11 Commissioners of Police elevated to Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police.
The 11 Commissioners of Police promoted to the rank of AIGs are:

According to a statement by PSC spokesman Ikechukwu Ani, the promoted officers underwent both written and oral examinations at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The Commission’s Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu, emphasized that written and oral examinations would now be mandatory prerequisites for promotions across all cadres of the Nigeria Police Force.
DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Honorable Commissioner and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Promotions, conducted the oral interviews. He urged the officers to rise to the demands of their new roles and assured them that the Commission would continue to ensure promotions are timely and merit-based.
The PSC plenary session will continue on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
