Less than two years into his presidency, a re-election campaign billboard for President Bola Tinubu has been erected in Abuja, signaling early preparations for the 2027 elections.
The billboard, which features a photograph of President Tinubu affectionately holding his wife, Remi, carries the caption “Grassroots support for Tinubu 2027”.
Located near the Velodrome at the national stadium on Area 1 Road, the billboard was sponsored by a group named “Dark Matters”.
The reelection campaign for Tinubu is coming a few months after he celebrated his one year as president of Nigeria.
This development occurs amidst scrutiny of Tinubu’s policies, which critics argue have exacerbated the nation’s economic challenges.
Critics argue that the current policies may not be resonating well with the grassroots, potentially eroding the president’s support base.
Despite this, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is intensifying efforts to consolidate support for Tinubu’s potential second term.
Ganduje in May 2024, highlighted that the party is enhancing its infrastructure nationwide to bolster Tinubu’s campaign.
Truthng understands that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet announced a schedule for the 2027 electoral process.
This early campaign initiative signals a strategic move to galvanize support well ahead of the election, setting the stage for what could be a highly contested race.
