Seyi Tinubu More Than Qualified to be Lagos State Governor — Minister

The Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has said the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, is qualified to be the governor of Lagos State.

He made this statement amid rumours that Tinubu will, in 2027, contest the seat his father, President Bola Tinubu, occupied from 1999 to 2007.

Speaking during his appearance on the Mic On podcast, the minister said, “He’s not too young to become a governor.”

Further elaborating, he said Tinubu is qualified to become anything, adding that he’s a well-trained young man who has built a lot of young people even before his father became President.

He also revealed that Tinubu is committed to leadership and is willing to ensure things work for Nigeria.

Tinubu himself is yet to address the rumours of a governorship ambition, which began in 2024 after the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) and other groups endorsed him for governor of Lagos.

Dissociating Tinubu from the campaigns, Olawande said, “Seyi is not the one engineering the campaign to become the next governor of Lagos State.”
