The National Coordinator of Atiku-TheIncoming-Group, ATIG, Hon. Thomas Onimisi Pius yesterday called on Nigerians to rally around and massively support Alhaji Abubakar Atiku in his bid for the presidency in the 2019 general elections, saying, “irrespective of creed, tribe or political affiliation, Nigerians should join hands with the group to make Nigeria working again.”
Speaking at a press briefing organsied by the group in Abuja, Onimisi explained that “Atiku-TheIncoming-Group, ATIG is an Atiku Presidential Campaign Support Group working to salvage Nigerians from the clutches of clueless political slavery, while urging Nigerians to come out en-mass in 2019 and vote Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Discussing some strategies already adopted by the group, he said: “The group, formerly known as the “Turaki Save Nigeria Group” is conducting a nationwide door to door, person to person voter mobilisation in support of the presidential bid of His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in what it calls ‘Operation 2019 Census for Atiku’”.
“Formed in 2013, the group has stayed loyal to its founding mandate which is to mobilise Nigerians to support the presidential bid of Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and this it has been doing by ensuring the establishment of States, Local government and ward coordinating units in states of the Federation,” he said.
Onimisi who reminded Nigerians of the need to embrace statesmanship said “this is the time when true patriots must come out and make sacrifices to rescue Nigeria,” adding that Nigeria was on the brinks and if let to continue in its current trajectory, then there will absolutely be no country for our children and those born post-2000 to live in.
While expressing concern that “Nigeria is literally collapsing,” Onimisi blames modern elites for “playing ostrich politics” adding that it was not in the best interest of the country.
The National Coordinator said the “The Incoming” group is doing all that is necessary and required to ensure an Atiku victory at the polls in February 2019.
Explaining the current undertaking of the group, he said Atiku-The-Incoming Group, ATIG has an established campaign and mobilization platform that leverages on its structures nationwide to conduct a House to House sensitization and vote recruitment exercise as part of its contribution to ensure the victory of the PDP and Alhaji Abubakar Atiku at the polls.
He said this had already commenced and evidences are results already recorded in States like Kogi, Nassawara, Benue, Niger, Cross River, Rivers, Kaduna, Lagos, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti and FCT adding that the program will be carried out in all the states, local governments and political wards in the country.
