UAE hosts ‘The Africa Debate’ 2024 to boost Africa trade ties

THE UAE is set to host the 2024 edition of The Africa Debate on October 31 in Dubai, in collaboration with Invest Africa, a business network promoting trade and investment in the African continent. The event, organised by the Ministry of Economy, will bring together global businesses, investment bodies, thought leaders, and policymakers to explore economic opportunities along the UAE-Africa trade and investment corridor.

As the largest Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) investor in Africa, the UAE continues to strengthen its economic ties with African nations. Previously held in London for ten editions, the prestigious event is making its debut in the UAE, further enhancing partnerships between the regions.

Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Economy, emphasised the importance of Africa as a strategic trade and investment partner. ‘Our collaboration with Invest Africa will deepen engagement with African markets and explore new avenues for economic cooperation. The Africa Debate has firmly established itself as a key platform for Africa-focused initiatives, and we look forward to advancing UAE-Africa partnerships,’ Al Kait said.

Chantelé Carrington, CEO of Invest Africa, highlighted the UAE’s role as the fourth-largest global investor in Africa. ‘Our partnership with the UAE Ministry of Economy reflects a shared commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties. The Africa Debate will serve as an essential platform for fostering dialogue and cooperation between Africa and the UAE,’ she said.

The event will feature panel discussions on critical sectors, including financial services, logistics, energy, infrastructure, and digital transformation, encouraging investors to explore opportunities in Africa’s rapidly growing markets. By fostering collaboration in these key industries, the forum aims to drive mutual growth and economic development for both the UAE and Africa.
