The Federal Government has conferred the award of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) on Mr. Umar Abdullahi, Chairman/CEO of Cosgrove Investment Limited – the first real estate development company to develop a smart estate in Nigeria.
Mr. Umar Abdullahi’s presidential recognition was bestowed alongside 339 other distinguished Nigerians and friends of the nation.
Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku bagged the country’s second highest National Honor of Grand Commander of Order of the Niger (GCON), while ten Justices of the Supreme Court were also honoured alongside the Emir of Dutse, Nuhu Sanusi and the Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele among others.
Umar Abdullahi was recognized for the resounding impact he made in the country’s housing sector particularly by pioneering the integration of state-of-the-art technology into real estate in the country, a feat he achieved in less than ten years of founding Cosgrove, a real estate development organisation that satisfactorily developed the first fully automated estate in the country – Cosgrove Smart Estate, Wuye, Abuja.
In Nigeria’s real estate sector, Mr. Abdullahi’s penchant for novelty and originality of luxury homes through innovation, R&D and the unique ability to oversee the improvement and application of newfound technology has triggered a wave of new housing production, a phenomenon that has now typified the Cosgrove brand.
Umar Abdullahi demonstrated ingeniousness by steering an organisation that soon became the hallmark of R&D and application of cutting-edge technology in home automation.
Apart from his invaluable contribution to the real estate sector, Mr. Umar Abdullahi also stands tall for his ability to create wealth through a unique model of investment in real estate that guarantees returns of investment (ROI) that surpasses investors expectations.
His ability to generate wealth and profitable investment in real estate has not only led to the creation of jobs, but has led the way for several young entrepreneurs who subscribe to his school of investment thought to become successful business owners in the industry.
His ingenious leadership at Cosgrove, and his ability to sustain the lead through an uninterrupted production of smart homes adjudged as very reputable, continued to attract the recognition of professional bodies across the housing sector, while homes of the Cosgrove brand stand tall for their quality.
Records show that under Mr. Umar Abdullahi, Cosgrove began to blaze the trail at its very beginning, the reason being the reputation of the technical personalities and engineers that constituted the foundation team. His strength therefore stems from the ability to identify and recognize ability.
In 2019, while about to complete the first masterpiece smart estate developed under Mr. Abdullahi’s ideological supervision, the Nigerian Institute Architects (NIA) conferred Double Honors; the first on the person of Mr. Umar Abdullahi as a pioneer, and the second award was bestowed on the investor’s invention – Cosgrove in its capacity as a corporate entity. At the ceremony, Arc. Jimoh Faworaja, Chairman of Archibuilt Development Services who is a former President of the NIA, noted that Archibuilt showcased Cosgrove for the company’s ability to “leverage on the use of innovative technology to tackle the challenges in this constantly evolving and growing building, development and construction sector, and for bringing global standards and practices to Nigeria.”
As the brand continues to get overwhelming acceptance in market and industry, Cosgrove was named ‘Nigerian Real Estate and Property Company of 2021’ by the Nigeria Real estate and Property Awards, in Lagos.
Over the years, the company continues to revolutionize the industry by leveraging on the power of research, and sustaining its inclination to innovation.
At the 2020 Housing awards, Cosgrove maintains the shine, winning three industry awards, namely, Real Estate Company of the Year, Smart City Developer of the year, and Special Recognition in Real Estate and Innovation.
