The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, on Saturday, revealed why the service deployed aircraft in Gombe State during the #EndBadgovernance protest.

According to Abubakar, the aircraft was deployed after hoodlums hijacked the protest, adding that the situation called for extra security measures.

Abubakar explained that the aircraft was deployed for reconnaissance missions, noting that the service’s regiment forces joined sister security services in quelling the unrest.

In a statement released through the Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Edward Gabkwet, said Abubakar disclosed during an interaction with the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya.

Gabkwet said, “Speaking on the wanton destruction of lives and property during the recent protest in the state, Air Marshal Abubakar stated that realising that the protest was hijacked by unscrupulous elements, the need for extra security measures became necessary.”

In response, Yahaya commended the NAF 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group for quelling looting and theft during the protest.
