The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the allocation of 568 plots of land in Abuja due to non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) fees.
According to a public notice issued by the FCT Administration (FCTA), the affected landowners in Maitama II, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja, failed to meet their financial obligations despite an extended grace period granted by the minister.
The notice cited Section 28 of the Land Use Act of 1978, stating that the revocation was necessary due to the allottees’ failure to comply with the terms of their grants, which mandated the settlement of all relevant fees.
“The allocation of these plots has been withdrawn pursuant to the provisions of Section 28 of the Land Use Act of 1978 for contravention of the terms of grant, which obligated the title/interest holders to settle all bills,” the notice read.
However, the FCTA clarified that allottees who completed their payments on or before January 15, 2025, are not affected by the revocation.
The names of the affected allottees and title holders whose allocations have been revoked were listed in the notice.
The minister’s efforts is in tandem with enforce compliance with land administration regulations in the FCT.
